Toko is a Belgian company, mainly focused on designing and creating lighting with a strong design aesthetic. We work with raw materials, combined with traditional production processes. The result is a product with a timeless appearance thanks to its contemporary and sleek design. The finishing of the products reflects the qualities of the materials and thus contributes to the creation of unique, attractive and beautiful lighting. The high quality of the used materials ensures a lifelong enjoyment.

CRAFTED PRODUCT
The products of TOKO design are handmade, using a centuries-old craft: 'woodturning'. Respect for nature and wood as a material is of great importance to Toko. By using wood from European forests and by keeping the entire production as local as possible, we ensure that the product does not travel around the world.
The ethical aspect is also of great importance to us. That is why we choose to produce on a small scale and locally without using cheap labor.
Each lamp is unique because of the traditional production process and the fact that it is handmade. Each lamp shows approximately the same shape and appearance. Still you might see some differences in nuances and wood drawings.
TOKO design is the fantasy world and creation of Tom Vanderleyden .
"I graduated as a landscape architect, but my true passion has been always designing and styling rooms. I started designing and making my own attributes (lighting, bed, table, ...) that were needed for furnishing spaces.

Another fascination of mine is wood and the beauty of this material. Therefore I went looking for ideas and technologies that lead to a unique product. Lamps are available in many types of materials, shapes, colours, sizes , ... but still you will rarely find them in such a robust shape and solid wood like you find them at TOKO design.
It is my challenge to create something unique. TOKO Design is not based on a particular style or movement . I especially want to let the wood and the design speak for themselves. This way I obtain a simple, beautiful, relaxing, timeless design that amplifies the inherent qualities of the wood. "
